Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge 2007
The yachting season 2007 provides fans of traditional sailing not only with the excitement of the America's Cup organized in Valencia. This year the world of sailing witnesses the return of the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge, the exclusive vintage yachts Mediterranean circuit in its third edition.
Traditional sailing is associated with nice wooden boats and great yachting characters, the everlasting names and designs. Yacht owners and designers, as well as yachting champions share the values and appreciate technological achievement of traditional watchmaking, with Officine Panerai being the leader in the area and symbol of love for the sea traditions.
The lovers of historic vessels and vintage yachts are going to enjoy another successful season meant to attract attention of a great deal of yacht owners and sailing enthusiasts. Traditional yachting has proved to be one of the most thriving branches in the nautical world. Embodying unique values of the sea, it annually attracts an increasing number of sailors, enthusiasts and spectators. The events held for vintage yachts to take part, are really popular as a great celebration that highlights the parade of the most beautiful 'sea ladies' passing the quaysides crowded with the excited public.
This year the Panerai Classic Yachts Challenge is arranged by AIVE, Italian Association of Vintage Yachts and CIM, International Mediterranean Committee. Officine Panerai acts as the title sponsor of the event. The organizers have planned the competition to comprise eight events - five races and three off-shore transfers from one leg to another. The participants will get points counting towards the final classification. In 2006, 239 yachts participated in the competition. This edition is expected to attract 300 yachts.
To commemorate the 2007 Circuit, Officine Panerai, is going to present its new watch model - the Panerai Luminor 1950 Flyback Regatta Rattrapante 2007 equipped with new features based upon well-maintained traditions of the house.
