The Results of BaselWorld 2007

The year 2007 proved to be successful for the BaselWorld - World Watch and Jewelry Show. A record number of visitors attended the eight-day exposition of luxury watches and jewelry. About 101'700 visitors attended the exposition, which is slightly above 8% if compared to 2006. Some of the world's most exclusive timepieces and jewelry presented at the show confirmed the reputation of BaselWorld as one of the leading international events in field of fine watches and jewelry.
During the eight days of the event, which is officially called the "35th BaselWorld World Watch and Jewelry Show," some of the leading watch and jewelry producers, together with the representatives from 45 countries, displayed their new collections in Basel, Switzerland. The event housed 2,758 journalists, which is 9% more if compared to last year. Basel gathered people from all continents.
More significance to the watch and jewelry show was added by a high number of business transactions being completed at BaselWorld. Raymond Weil's chief executive, Olivier Bernheim, stated that BaselWorld is a very important event and it went quite well for the company.
The character of the show held in Basel provides wide opportunities for networking and information exchange, these being used to full effect. The marketing manager for Harry Winston, Pascal Ravessoud, outlined that BaselWorld is extremely important for exhibiting The company's new range of products and it helped Harry Winston to secure several advantageous business deals.
The director of the Germany branch for the Hong Kong Trade Development Council, Winchell Cheung, outlined the importance and of the event and the way it was organized. "Visitors to the Hong Kong Pavilion ordered more products than in 2006," he said. Mr. Cheung stated that some of the most encouraging deals were made with dealers from Russia, Brazil and the Middle East.
The number of the international reports in the daily press, business press, radio and television, regarding the World Watch and Jewelry Show, is continuously increasing. Pascal Ravessoud, Harry Winston's marketing manager, said that the quality of interviews and the number of media contacts were at their highest level.
It is worth mentioning that the BaselWorld 2008 World Watch and Jewelry Show is going to take place the next year in the period from April 3 to April 10 at the Exhibition Center Basel.
