BaselWorld - The Place Where Masters Meet

Overview

The roots of the popular international luxury event, known today as BaselWorld, date back to 1917. At that time the event was known as the "Swiss Industries Fair Basel." Soon the Fair was able to expand into a huge European Watch and Clock Show. Today BaselWorld is the world's biggest watch, clock and jewelry event. Each year it attracts about 2,100 exhibitors and 80,000 visitors. These include watch masters, jewelry artists and precious gems professionals.

Different producers showcase their news products so BaselWorld's visitors could look through a select range of products in beautiful luxurious surroundings, which by the way cover an area of more than 160,000 square meters. BaselWorld serves as an opportunity for famous watchmaking companies to display their creations to the world. Thus the event helps in promoting old and new watch brands.

BaselWorld presents a selection of products that are unique, it is the place where new products are displayed for the first time and there is no other place one can look through luxury watches and jewelry.

All the products sectors at BaselWorld arena are clearly segmented. They are all divided in six exhibition halls. There is halls for every watch, jewelry and related brand, in addition there are also national pavilions. All in all BaselWorld represents an event, the goal of which is to provide a complete market overview and an excelent business platform.

Once a year during spring, more than 94,000 retailers and wholesalers from different countries visit Basel with one main aim, i. e. to get acquainted with the latest trends and developments that watch and jewelry companies expose.

Brief History

The year 1917 saw the appearance of "Swiss Industries Fair Basel." The fair covered all sectors from the specialized areas of watches till various clocks and jewelry. Later, in 1931, a special pavilion was opened. The opening took place at the "Swiss Watch and Clock Show."

The opening of the first European Watch and Clock Exhibition together with the Swiss Watch and Clock Show took place in 1972. The event housed exhibitors from the Federal Republic of Germany, as well as France, Italy and Great Britain. The first "European Watch, Clock and Jewelry Show" appeared a year later.

In 1983 the event was officially named "Basel 83 - European Watch Clock and Jewelry Show." At the beginning of the 21st century Basel celebrated 30 years as the leading watch and jewelry event in the world.

BaselWorld Halls

All watch jewelry and related brands are housed in six halls of the BaselWorld. Each hall has several floors that have their own names.

The first hall is all about watches, and it includes two floors called: Hall of Dreams (1.0) and Hall of Desires (1.1);

The second hall has three floors: Hall of Feelings (the first two floors 2.0 and 2.1) and Hall of Visions (2.2);

The third, just like the second includes three floors: Hall of Innovations, meant for packaging, clocks displays, watch straps components, tools machines and others (3.U and 3.2) and the Hall of Elements, meant for stones and pearls (3.0 and 3.1);

The fourth hall just like the first one, is all about watches, and it has three floors and all of them are under one name, i. e. Hall of Inspirations (4.U, 4.0 and 4.1);

The fifth hall, together with the first and the fourth ones, is created for watch brands, and it has two floors, both having one name, i. e. Hall of Emotions (5.0 and 5.1);

The sixth hall has one floor and it is called the Hall of Universe and it is meant for watches, jewelry and related products of the present countries.
